Climate Clod of the week: Lucy Lawless

I haven't done climate clod of the week in a few weeks....oops. However, reader Jack e-mailed me a quote from Lucy Lawless that I have to post.

Posted on the website Mother Nature Network (MNN) is an interview on March 5 of this year with Lucy Lawless. She talks about various things, but then the interviewer asks her this question:

After Climategate and other reports questioning climate change science, many people worldwide are still skeptical about global warming. What would you say to disbelievers to get them to change their minds?

Lucy Lawless answers:

Climate Clod of the week, Robert F Kennedy Jr.

This week's climate clod is Robert F Kennedy Jr.  He said in 2002:

"Large-scale hog producers are a greater threat to the United States and U.S. democracy than Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network." - Source

That quote was attributed to him, but some doubted its validity. While testifying to Congress in Feb. 2009, he was asked if it was indeed his quote. Here is the video:

It appears he did indeed make that statement, or at the very least he supports it. As reader puhlease said, "An irrelevant Kennedy in search of an issue…"

Climate clod of the week, Sen. Debbie Stabenow

Every week we will show you an individual who has made an absurd statement regarding climate change. The first one was suggested by a reader, John from Michigan.

On August 10, 2009 Sen. Debbie Stabenow from Michigan interviewed with the Detroit news. Stabenow was asked why she felt climate change was so important, especially since Michigan voters rated it their least pressing concern. She answered:

“Climate change is very real...Global warming creates volatility. I feel it when I’m flying. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes.” - Source

Here is the audio:

I am sure Michigan residents are proud of their Senator, fighting valiantly against turbulent plane flights for her constituents. Too bad she's wrong.
